1. bias tape

Bias tape is a strip of fabric that you can buy premed at shops or make yourself - it is basically a long cloth cut on the bias grain of the fabric. Tape is used to eliminate armholes, necklines, and other edges, and also as drawstrings, straps, etc.

It is available as single fold bias tape in 1/2 inch or 7/8 inch width. In a single-fold bias tape, the edges of the fabric strip are twisted lengthwise to the middle of the strip. The double-fold bias tape is a single-fold bias tape that is again folded in the middle. It typically measures 1/4 inch (but can measure a wider 1/2 inch). Double-fold bias tape is used to finish the edges or as a drawstring, cord, etc.

You can also buy wide bias tape in the form of blanket bindings or quilt bindings. The names are self-explanatory. They are about 1–1 / 2 / to 2 / wide. Another bias facing one hem is the cut tape.
